Why couples choose Edgecamp

A place that takes your breath away, and people who take care of everything else.

Couples find us for the romantic, take-your-breath-away setting in nature, on the water. They book because of what happens after the first call: a hospitality team that has hosted weddings, reunions and weeklong family escapes on this shoreline for years, with more than sixty five-star Google reviews to show for it. We don't host events. We make memories, and we've built the whole place around that.

You'll know on the boardwalk.

The dock runs three hundred feet through the sea grass to open water. Couples walk it on their first visit and go quiet. That silence is the moment they've found it, and a year later it's the same boardwalk they walk down as husband and wife.

Everyone stays close.

Your family is in the big house on the sound, the wedding party next door, and the rest of your guests five minutes up the road at the oceanfront house and our hotel. The ceremony, the tent, the pool and the firepit are all on one lawn. No shuttles across the island, no bar closing on you, and when the music winds down the night carries on quietly by the fire.

Edgecamp was built for large groups from the start. Who else builds a fourteen-bedroom house on the water? Weddings have become so popular here that we're adding more homes inside the club, a short walk from the lawn: 78 guest beds as of late 2026, with a goal of 200 guests within walking distance in 2027 and beyond. Check availability for your dates; by your weekend we may be able to house every one of your guests without a car.

Hospitality is what we do.

We're hotel people. Our hospitality group welcomed guests for nearly 20,000 nights across seven hotels last year and earned more than 2,000 independent reviews, 82% of them five stars and 95% four or five. Here on Hatteras, 43 of Edgecamp's 44 reviews last year were five stars, and the other one was a four. Ten weddings came to us this year by word of mouth alone. On your weekend, one team and one phone number handle everything from the first email to Sunday brunch.

A wedding weekend at Edgecamp

Three days on the water. Here's how it actually goes.

Guests seated on the long dock as two grooms walk out over the sea grass toward the ceremony, the flagship house behind them
The dock is the aisle. It runs 300 feet out over the sea grass to open water.

Thursday & Friday

Everyone arrives, and the weekend starts early.

Cars pull into the big house and the trunks come out. By the afternoon there are cousins on paddleboards and a grandmother on the deck with a glass of wine. Friday night is the rehearsal dinner, cooked on site by a private chef, with the sunset doing the rest.

Inside the clear-top tent: long tables set in white, a dance floor, and the sound visible through the tent walls
The clear-top tent on the lawn. Every table faces the water.

Saturday

The ceremony faces west. On purpose.

Getting ready happens in the house, with the sound outside the window. Late afternoon, the chairs go out on the lawn or down the dock, and you say your vows with the water behind you. Then the wedding reception venue itself: the clear-top tent for 150, where the sky changes color over dinner and the dance floor fills as the stars come out.

Guests gathered on the boardwalk edge beside a lit sailcloth tent at golden hour, pink sky over the sea grass
Golden hour on the lawn. This is the light every photographer asks about.

Saturday night & Sunday

Nobody has to leave. So nobody does.

When the band stops, the party moves to the firepit, and then everyone walks to bed. Sunday is a slow brunch on the deck, a last swim, kites on the sound if the wind is up, and the kind of goodbye that takes two hours because no one wants it to end.

Why Hatteras

Why Hatteras Island is the quiet end of the Outer Banks for a wedding.

Hatteras is the far, wild stretch of the Outer Banks, a fifty-mile ribbon of National Seashore between the Atlantic and the Pamlico Sound. Sunrise on the ocean, sunset on the sound, and in between a village where the loudest thing is wind in the sea oats. Edgecamp, a Hatteras Island wedding venue, sits on the sound side, where the water goes still and gold in the evening. And on the open ground beside the big house, we're building something new on an island that has never had it: a modern venue made from the ground up for one thing, a wedding.

Where everyone stays · as of late 2026

An Outer Banks wedding venue with lodging for 78: four homes on one shoreline.

A destination wedding is a three-day house party with a ceremony in the middle. These are the wedding houses, and they were built for exactly this: big families, whole wedding parties, everyone under one roof or the next one over. We own every one of them, so the property is yours for the weekend, with no strangers down the hall and no neighbor to keep happy.

28guests

The Flagship, Soundfront

Fourteen bedrooms on the water. The lawn, the dock, the pool and the tent are all here. Your family's home base and the heart of the weekend.

12guests

The Sound House

Six bedrooms next door, a short walk down the boardwalk. Where the wedding party usually lands.

10guests

The Ocean House

Five bedrooms on the beach side, five minutes away, for the friends who want to wake up to surf and sunrise on the Atlantic.

28guests

Pamlico Station, the hotel

Fourteen one-bedroom suites five minutes up the road, with a sauna and cold plunge. Covered by The New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Coastal Living, USA Today and Outside. For everyone who wants a door that locks and a bed made in the morning.

150 guests under the tent. 78 of them in Edgecamp beds today. 200 within walking distance is where we're headed.

Forty of those beds are a walk from the lawn; the rest are five minutes up the road. Most couples put the two families and the wedding party on the sound and let friends take the ocean house, the hotel and the village rentals nearby. More homes are going up inside the club for 2027 and beyond, so check availability for your dates. We'll help place everyone.

Opening summer 2027 · The Lawn at Edgecamp

We watched couples choose between the pool and the guest list. So we're building the Lawn.

Here's the honest version. Today a wedding of about a hundred fits beautifully on the lawn beside the big house. Past that, the bigger tent goes up on the north side of the house, and it covers the pool for the weekend. Every couple who's made that call has made it gracefully. We still didn't love asking.

So on the open ground just south of the flagship, between the house and the sea grass, we're building something the Outer Banks has never had: a new, modern venue made only for this, purpose-built from the first drawing. A four-bedroom bridal house with a dressing suite and a catering kitchen. An open lawn set parallel to the sound so every table faces the sunset. And one grand tent for 150 to 200 guests, with the pool and the big house untouched behind you. More homes go up inside the club, a short walk from the lawn, toward the thing we've wanted from the start: 200 guests within walking distance, so nobody has to drive anywhere.

Construction begins this winter. The Lawn and the grand tent open for weddings in summer 2027; the bridal house follows, and until it's finished the flagship next door does that job the way it does today. The first couples to marry on the Lawn will be the first ever. If that sounds like you, tell us, and we'll hold the conversation for those dates before the calendar opens.

See you on the lawn.

Your hosts

I answer every inquiry myself, usually the same day. By the time you arrive I'll know your mother's name, your grandfather's walker, and which cousin needs the quiet room. That's the job, and I love it. Erica Weddings & Events, Edgecamp

Pamlico Station has been featured in The New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Southern Living, Garden & Gun, Coastal Living, USA Today and Outside. We're hospitality people first. Check your dates

Tell us about the two of you.

We hold a limited number of wedding weekends each spring and fall, when the light is best and the island is quiet. Share your season and your guest count and Erica will come back with what's open, and an honest picture of the weekend we'd make for you.

Wedding weekends start at $21,500.

That's the venue fee plus three spring or fall nights in both soundfront houses, so the campus is yours, before tax. Tent, catering and vendors are arranged to your wedding, and Erica sends exact pricing for your dates.

Prefer to talk? Call or text Erica at (307) 413-3489.

We recommend our planning partner.

Every weekend here runs on a planner who knows this lawn, this tent crew and this island. We work with an Edgecamp planning partner who has done it many times, and we strongly recommend her. Tell us below and Erica will make the introduction; if you already have a planner you love, we'll fold them in.

When are you thinking?
You'll get a confirmation right away and a personal reply from Erica within one business day.

Thank you. Erica has it.

Expect a real note back within a business day with what's open for your season and a few honest thoughts on how your weekend could go. If you asked, she'll also introduce you to our planning partner, the person we trust with every weekend here. In the meantime, you might want to look at a map and find Rodanthe. It's farther out than you think, and that's the point.

The practical questions

The practical things, answered plainly.

Is the whole property really just ours?

Yes. When you book a wedding weekend, every home on the campus is yours and no other guests are on the property. Pamlico Station can be bought out as well, or booked room by room for your guests.

What happens if it rains?

The tent is the plan, not the backup. Ceremonies move under the clear-top tent or onto the covered decks, and the sound looks beautiful in weather. Peak wedding months here are April through June and September through November, the island's driest, mildest stretch.

Should we buy wedding insurance?

Yes, and for a fall date we ask that you do. Hatteras is a barrier island, and September and October sit inside hurricane season. In a bad year a storm can close the road or prompt an evacuation order days before your weekend. Event insurance that covers weather cancellation, postponement and evacuation is inexpensive next to the wedding itself, and it means a storm costs you a date, not your deposits and your vendors. Erica will point you to the policies our couples have used.

How do our guests get there?

Norfolk (ORF) is about two and a half hours by car, Raleigh (RDU) about four. The drive down the island is the first part of the vacation. We'll send a guest guide with the route, the stops worth making, and when to leave to avoid the Saturday rental turnover.

Do we need a planner? Can we bring our own vendors?

We strongly recommend a planner, and we have one: our Edgecamp planning partner has run many weekends on this lawn and knows the tent crew, the florists, the chefs and the wind. Ask Erica for the introduction. If you already have a planner, we'll work with them. Vendors are yours to choose; we'll introduce you to the island's best, and most couples do a mix.

How many nights do we book?

Wedding weekends are a three-night minimum, usually Thursday through Sunday in spring and fall. Many families add a night or two on either side, since you're already on Hatteras.

What about the older guests and small kids?

The flagship has an elevator, ground-floor rooms, and wide decks. Pamlico Station is single-level with a bed made for you every morning. Tell Erica who needs what and we'll place everyone accordingly.

Is there a noise curfew?

We're responsible stewards of this land and good neighbors in a small village, and we always act that way. Amplified music on the lawn has a reasonable end time, which we'll set with you and your planner. After that, the night moves to the firepit by the water, where the best conversations of the weekend tend to happen anyway.

How far ahead should we book?

Outer Banks weddings book twelve to eighteen months out, and we hold only a handful of weekends each season. If you have a 2027 date in mind, now is the time to ask. Dates on the new Lawn open to the first-look list first.
